Attendance Policy:

Our General Delegate Fr. Aloysius Deeney, OCD, reminds us that, "Carmelite Spirituality is supremely practical. It is not practical to set up a spiritual life alone...For this reason, community life is indispensable."

Are you willing and able to commit to the second Saturday of the month for the rest of your life? Members are expected to attend monthly meetings. Because absences sometimes cannot be avoided, we ask the following:

1. If you need to be absent; then you must inform your Formation Instructor or the President of the community clearly stating the reason.

2. After the third absence in a 12-month period, the President will contact the individual as a reminder of his or her obligation to the community.

3. At the same time this will give the President the opportunity to offer the community's assistance.

4. Upon further absence, Council will decide on an individual basis how to proceed.

Addendum (Oct 2008): When a member is not present during monthly meetings/business meetings:
If a community member is absent from the monthly meeting, they are to contact their formation instructor regarding class work missed and to contact the Secretary regarding issues discussed in Community Affairs. If a community member is absent from only the Community Affairs segment of the meeting, they are to contact the Secretary regarding issues discussed. For those in ongoing formation, they are to contact a member of their class. In either circumstance, this should be done before the next meeting.
